i think the reason i'm so down on chicago is because it is not neccessarily the city i don't like. i think its that i don't entirely like myself in that city.
i feel like being in the skag/what counties make me kind of become a better version- more complete or correct- michelle person. i dont even ache for seattle. i'm just home. and that's cool.
i am happy. i can see my life here. cut out the parts in the middle but keep sara coffin because she is one of the best things that ever happened to me.
also. last night with ben jason and sarah spencer at some dive by the docks in a town. we walked past spoonshine playing in a restaurant, right by bill cook's upright bass. i ate bar clam chowder and watched hippie redneck townies really truly prove why karaoke exists. sarah sang the gambler. and then there was ben singing some metalish song i keep forgetting the name of. and that was the best thing that ever happened in my life.

i cannot talk to patrick.
everytime i have a small issue, i'm terrified he's going to be wounded or super defensive.
so i hesitate to say things. they build, and so on. other things with sara i can breach because i know how she'll react, and she does and it's fine.
i don't like being passive agressive. but christ.
the latest thing should not be that big of a deal, but based on how pat reacted when i said something, it's resonating. i asked if pat could smoke less, or if he must chain smoke, please keep the constant smoke in his room or just not where i hang out (kitchen, livingroom). please. and he immediately got defensive like i was saying he was the only person who ever smokes in the apartment. (immediately after which he needed to tell us how he's having an epsisode and proabably won't be arount so as not to expose us to it. so, there's the wounded worry about bringing up ANyThing.) but the smoking. no. but sara has one cig at a time. and i'll probably give her a bit of hell about it. i can handle one at a time. but the smoke makes me really feel unwell. when i travel, it's frustrating to unpack all of my clothes to find how very strong they smell like ash and smoke.
and i just caught the motherfucking white cat peeing on my clothes. bam.
coming back from vacation would be better if i felt comfortable. i'm going to clean the kitchen floor now and do other provisions to make the apartment acceptable. i know quite a bit is my stuff scattered. i know my little animals have left some messes that are gross. but i'm on top of that.
i'm done. time for my records to occupy this sound space.
